Kaathi is traditionally performed during Karthigai Deepam festival in Tamilnadu. Made entirely from different parts of a palm tree, making the Kathi is an art in itself that very few people still practice.

Countless sparks fly,

I disappear within them.

They cause a thousand burns,

My skin sizzles.

The buzz of the fire I hear,

Quietens the world.

The brightness of the embers,

Blinds me in their light.

In that moment,

I see myself as one.

The energy of the universe

Flowing through me,

Fleeting yet here to stay.

Life can burn you a million times, but they heal. The joy lies in how we are reborn through the flames and turn back to see how breathtakingly beautiful the fire is. We are born from it and grow to worship it.
